Walkhighlands

Looks like a great day out - I'd saved this for a perfect weather forecast but the clag rolled in, and no amount of waiting around saw it clear after that. Most annoying was that apparently almost every other hill in the area was clear that day.

Just posting to say that I've now finally updated the Walkhighlands route after that visit. It now features a slightly improved start. Still best earlier in the summer though before the bracken gets up.

Hi Paul thanks for that, in fact we went up to just beyond the mast on our left, up the hill which appealed greatly and turned around at the road junction where another road goes down to the left and decided probably the best placed to park was before the bridge as identified by WH as there was plenty of room for cars. Apart from the first section, a great route with pretty good underfoot conditions especially coming back along the ridge.

Have considered this before so good to see what's there.

The trees to the left of the deep bracken is a better alternative for the start of Beinn na Cille.

Should have spoken to you earlier Bert We had actually gone up the road and turned back at the mast as we could not find a space to park and returned back to the parking area at the bridge. I actually left the dry river bed and moved over to the fence line at the trees and that was quicker and easier as we had started behind a couple of blokes who stayed in the river bed and once we arrived above the tree line we found we had overtaken them But still a hard slog
