Today's objective was a not-too-strenuous walk with the boys up something with good views. There'd been a good sprinkling of snow the night, before but a forecast of sunshine and little wind, so I checked TrafficScotland's web cams for Drumochter and everything looked okay for heading north to explore Creag Bheag. It turned out to be a great wee walk for the first snowy trip of winter 2015-16.

Snowy Creag Bheag path heading up through the trees

We pretty much followed the Walk Highlands route to the letter, starting at the Ardvonie car park, and heading straight up Creag Bheag from the south path to the top(s) for some pretty good 360º panorama of very snowy hills, with the Monadhliath white and clear but the high Cairngorms hiding in cloud.

We then headed down the good north ridge path to the golf course, though there was plenty of ice patches to avoid. The snow-coated trees of Tom Baraidh were lovely to walk through (and for a few games of hide-and-seek), although we ignored the "ignore a path off left signed for Raitts" advice and took a bit of an unplanned detour almost to the A9 :?

So we returned to the woods and followed the way marked route past Kerrow and down to the old A9, along Kingussie High Street and rather too many empty shops, and back to the car for what was a terrific circuit of hills and trees.

Looks like a great viewpoint. Similar to the one from Cruban Beag https://www.polaroidblipfoto.com/entry/3574229
