A difficult second climb for us up the wonderful Millstone Hill. The walk through the forest was nice as it provided shelter from the scorching sun, but once the climb started up the steps, it started to go a bit downhill for us. By the time we were halfway up the steps, we were being swarmed by hundreds of flies. This got to Kamila quite badly as she just wanted to stop and sit down for a drink, but if we settled, then the swarm grew. By the time we came out of the forest and onto the track to the summit, we were desperate for the flies to go away. Finally a breeze picked up near the summit and we managed to stop for a drink. Cloud started moving in at this stage too, cooling it down nicely. We started to realise the view from the top was going to be something special when we came out of the trees.

We got to the summit, minus the flies, and were greeted by the most amazing view. Not only could we see the Mither Tap and other peaks, but we could see the highrises of Stockethill in Aberdeen. The view made it worth the climb. We spent half an hour on the summit before making our way back down through some more pine plantation and back to Donview Studio.

Rating: 6/10 due to the flies
