A day out in the Ochils to blow away the excesses of xmas. After the spell of heavy rain we'd been having it was good to get a dry day to get out for a walk. We chose a gentle stroll up Innerdownie to break us in after a couple of months of inactivity! Mostly due to me recovering from some surgery.

We started out at the Glen Sherup car park and followed to forest track up to where the turn off to Glen Sherup reservoir was. Instead of taking this route we followed the forest track up hill until we came to a sharp right turn into the trees. A short walk up through the trees and then we broke out of the forest, through a gate and into open ground with views across to Knockhill and the Lomond hills.

From here we turned right and followed the wall and fence line all the way up to the top of Innerdownie. A bit boggy in places and a few bits of fresh snow. But in the cold wind it was a good walk and left us feeling refreshed as we reached the small summit cairn.

Time for a sandwich and a wee dram then back down towards Glen Quey. When we reached the gate at the forest track again we turned left and followed the path down into Glen Quey until we crossed the bridge and onto the main road through Glen Devon village.
Back along this road to Glen Sherup car park.

A really good day to get us back in to the hills.
