My pup Rolo (Cocker spaniel) turned 6 months a few weeks ago. He is from gun lines and is bursting with energy. Ive been waiting till the better weather so I could introduce him to some hills (small ones). I've decieded that anything under an hour and 15 minutes is doable for him, providing its his only walk of the day. I'm conscious of over exercising him

So today it began. We set out for Tom bailgeann, near Dores Inverness.

We parked up on the road and set off.
We walked around the gate, and started our treck up the huge face of the hill
As this was my first hill in a long while, I stopped a little way up and thought ' bugger this'.

With some snow still lying and me walking up in sports trainers, I did have a few slips and near misses. We got to the top in 25 minutes and had a quick 2 minute break at the monument.

Rolo was in his elements, bouncing about the heather bushes and eating the snow :)

We took a different route down and it was some great views. I so wanted to let him run around off the lead, but im still not confident he is ready yet..

We got back to the car at 52 minutes and we had a little play time, celebrating our first hill adventure.

Hopefully I can upload photos soon, as the scenery was fantastic.

Hopefully the first of many.

There's loads of great hills in that area. That one is a good one to cycle to from Inverness and you can stop for a beer in Dores on the way back. 8)
It would be good if you can stick some photos up.

PS did you visit the McBean monument near Dores :D

Congrats to you both on your first hill   Hope you and Rolo get to enjoy more adventures out on the hills. Our dog, Nudge loves hill walking but he says to tell Rolo to stay away from bouldery peaks coz they are rough on the old paws

Hi guys. I live close by so its going to be my new favourite area.

Not really into cycling anymore so will stick to the hills, although the pint at dores sounds good.

Here are some pics I took. I actually went up this same hill yesterday with a friend. We tried another hill but there was too many animals for the dogs.
