4 hours is probably a record for Cruaich Tairbeirt - for the slowest climb! But we have an excuse - we were practising our navigation skills and also spent a long time at the top looking at the Arrochar Alps, Ben Lomond, Loch Lomond and Ben Lui (maybe) which were all snow covered. The day was absolutely stunning and we were warm at the top - which was a surprise for the end of February. No hurry to get back down.

On the navigation side we had identified a route in advance - followed the loop path from Tarbet Station, copied what others had done and turned left and up through the trees just past the stream. We followed the stream up and came out on the hillside a bit below originally planned and identified a slightly different route to follow which included a wee bit of exploring on the hill and a lot of 'wows' as the various snow covered hills around us revealed themselves. On the way back down a path which was heading more in the Arrochar direction so headed round the hill to enter the woods at a spot we recognised. Followed the stream back down.

A small hill with great views. No one else there today and they missed out!
