Thursday. Starting from Bruces stone in Glentrool, I followed route 7 eastish to where the Sheil burn cascades down over the lip of the coire above. My route climbs the east bank - made easier thro forestry clearing but still tough going in the tussocky grass. Gaining the lip a ridge gives easier passage thus I reach Lamachan`s broad summit and the jumble of rocks that is its cairn. A fantastic vista confronts me as the whole of South west Galloway is laid out ahead. With cloud now covering the hills to the north I head for Curlywee along the face of Bennabeck. From the craggyy summit I head north over White hill - the cloud now clearing as I drop down to route 7 and head back to the car - enroute a pairs of ravens giving me gip - buzzards drinking at loch Dee - deer - sheep - tree creepers on the forest trees give an amusing break and bag of scallop shells from the path for my garden
