Thursday - Stuart and I set off for Wales, taking a short detour off th M74 and up the A7 to climb Cauldcleugh Head - a Graham residing in the Border country. Parking at Billhope - we followed the track beside a burn of the same name to the foot of North mid hill. Here, Stuart turns back while I plough up through the reeds and bracken to reach the boggy heather plateau above. Misty up top - no real suprise there ! A compass bearing directs me to the joining of three fences and twin gates indicate the highest point of this upland area - Visibility is still about 10mtr, the mist swirls in the breeze and the only sign of life are pondskaters in a peaty pool - I retrace my route back to the car and Stuart - Wales here we come
