Got Stuchd into a Meall in Glen Lyon

No work at last, so time to get out and stretch the legs
I chose to do the 2 Munros st the top of Glen Lyon Stuchd an Lochan and Meall Buidhe
driving up Loch Lomondside first thing I noticed (even though it was still dark was that
winter had returned to the hills
The roads being quite I was soon at the cut of over past Ben Lawers I took a gamble on the
road over here being clear
it was passable with care snow and ice for a good stretch no one else had ventured over
after getting safely over the road up the Glen was clear all the way
and soon took the turn up sign posted Lochs Estate
Reaching the dam the clag was down to about 2000ft so it was boots on and off
up the path to Meal Buidhe

Nice view up Loch a Daimh

With the fresh snow the route was surprisingly not too bad ,not as boggy as I expected
and not too steep so I had no stops as it was fairly easy going
After 1hr 40 mins I was at the summit in the clag not a bit of wind (this was to change)

No point in hanging around with no views so it was a quick turnaround for the descent
looking over to Stuchd an Lochan if anything the clag was getting thicker

the descent was quick and easy did hit one bit of bog but going by what ive read
I actually done not too bad
When I reached the cairn marker on the road I passed the first walker I had seen
so had broke a trail for them in the fresh snow

I Had left my ruck sack at the car so had a bite to eat for both us and then set off for Stuchd

The First part of the ascent is Fairly steep with no let up till I reached the snow
it was a walk up a burn but the snowline was low so was soon in it again
again no one had been up since the snowfall to it was a case of trail breaking again
looking down fron the top of the first steep part I could see 3 walkers also heading up
they later thanked me for trail breaking for them
Once the initial part is over the rest of the walk was far easier on the legs

The clag by no was starting to clear but not enough to get some views
after dropping of the summit I bumped into the 3 walkers I had seen earlier
who thanked me for laying the trail for them

From here it was a simple matter of retracing my steps back to the dam and the car

All in all I fairly enjoyed my short day out and by the time I was driving back over
the road past Lawers the snow was completely gone for the road
and there seemed to be plenty of walkers out in the hills
the drive down Loch Lomond was a nightmare with all the Easter holiday traffic

Notwithstanding the iffy weather, some nice pics here. I particularly like the one "Looking over to Meall Ghaordaidh" - very atmospheric!

These two are on our shortlist - we have done all the other Munros in Lyon/Lawers area. A bit of a pain in *** to get to them from the north - the long drive along Glen Lyon road doesn't look appealing

Looks like an enjoyable route despite the cloud.

Thankyou still nice to be out regardless the weather ,will find out tomorrow
how the next ones will be

It is a long drive for you specially if you are coming in from the Aberfeldy end up the Glen
