Mirror Mirror on the wall, who is the prettiest of them all

The weather had plaid a major part why I had not been able to climb to the top of Beinn an Lochain 2 week prior. I had been ok about it and had planned to climb the hill at some point in the future, after all I wasn’t bagging Corbetts (yet). Driving up the Rest and be Thankful, with plans to climb one of the other Corbetts I saw Beinn an Lochain rise beautifully above me and in that split second knew I simply had to climb it again to get to the top.

Parking my car like 2 weeks prior I geared up and made my way to the top. The weather was beautiful and made a huge difference to the gale force winds I had encountered the first time.

Climbing a hill the secodn time is always so much easier and this time the beautiful scenery made me stop often and stare. Could Beinn an Lochain turn out to be my favorite mountain?

I will let the pictures tell the story and if you have the chance, climb this beautiful hill in winter...its a beauty!

Superb photos of some Alpine climbing scenes!

Must get round to this one next time I am in the Arrochar area.

That looks fantastic! A proper bit of mountaineering, quite Alpine in character. Just goes to show that some of the best hills aren't Munros! What superb weather you had this time - kind of makes up for your previous experience on this hill; well done indeed

Looks like somebody might have abseiled from that bit of tat in the rock with the karabiner hanging from it. Great report and stunning photos.

These are the sort of conditions when the hills are at their best! A lack of snow lower down means quicker access to the tops and then plenty of snow to play in when you get there!

You seem to have a very powerful zoom to pick out such detail of the neighbouring peaks. Fantastic day! Fantastic photos! Fantastic report!

Wow, some of those photographs are truly stunning, you've certainly got an eye for a good composition. The weather conditions look equally amazing, I'll be gutted with the snow disappears this year. When I did Beinn an Lochain there was clag right from the roadside and I couldn't see a thing after the first 5 minutes :(

This is what people who only do Munros, miss out on. It's a stunning hill.

More important than pretty: really attractive and seductive! And what a difference a bit of the white stuff makes.

Really excellent pics
