Another day of easing with a 32k yomp

After last weeks 28k walk and the knee feeling fine another walk was planned for this weekend it should have been at the WH Gairloch meet but after checking the weather it looked none too pretty up that way so I made my apologies to all and sundry and with a few WH friends not at the meet we somehow managed to find a nice 32k yomp all in the interests of "easing me back in"as it were.

Another early rise and out the door by 6:00am and started walking from Inverey by 8:30am,weather forecast was for early morning squalls of rain & falling as snow higher up,turning to sunshine by mid afternoon with 40 mph winds which thankfully never got anywhere near this speed.

In just under 2 hrs we arrived at Altanour Lodge which has been deer fenced off now, 5 min break and back on our way, boggy underfoot conditions had us slipping & sliding our way onto the bealach and then an easy walk took us onto Carn Bhac the cloud was still down so onwards we went.We new there was a section of peat hags to deal with but jeez what came next was without doubt the worst hour ive had walking just a nightmare of bog trotting ,peat hag jumping walking to & fro to try & get through the mire thankfully without any mishaps.

From afar we could see the huge cornices on BLM which had us twitching a wee shade, its a steep climb and a fair amount of fresh unstable snow which had us wondering if we should bail out or not,but with careful route planing we eventually made the sweeping ridge of BLM and what a site awaited us just a stunning view all around.

A nice walk to the summit, some summit pictures and then the long, long walk back to Inverey followed, just a stunning day, hope the pictures do it justice.

Cheers GLW.
