Rain forecast for the East, Central and South-West made the choice for the two Munros from Glen Spean as there was chance to get a dry day with good visibility North of Fort William despite the strong winds... :)
My day off work in week day means to get back home early, hard to get far away to North. Originally I planned Torridon with a start at 00:45 am from home, but more circumstances changed it for Glen Spean - my plan B.
Woke up at 02:15, I left home around 03:15 am heading North via Stirling, Perth and Dalwhinnie...
Enjoying the driving in morning's silence, listening music and thinking about a lot of things made the distance seem shorter :)

Sunrise during my way between Dalwhinnie and Loch laggan

Arrived around 06:00, parked my car in the wee parking place just before the gate

Image
Started my walk just before 6:15, nice to see the daylight getting longer every day now

The innitial way

Image
Need to turn left at this junction and follow the track for a short distance until a wee cairn shows the shortcut into the forest. I dont know why I ignored the junction at first and continued still the wide road until I checked my position and turned back

Image
Here is the point - the very small cairn where you can turn into forest...

The entrance into the forest...

...and the exit from the forest

Looking back from higher level

...and higher. Here I removed my insulated jacket from rucksack and used for rest of the walk as the wind was really strong and cold.

I did not follow the usual route here and decided to continue along the cliffs to get more views from the north - rocky side and I was surprised how the Beinn a'Chaorainn looks great from this side, especially in winter condition 8) :D

Happy for the views and without any regrets for some extra but short distance, I turned back and joined the usual route ( even pathless here ) for the descend...to connect my second target Beinn Teallach

Image
Still a lot of snow on the top near the summit

Nice snowy slopes

Back there shortly after 12:00, the gate was opened now, but I did not see anyone on the hills...probably workers somewhere in the forest.

Image
I had a company shortly before I left the place :D

Image
As the forecast said before...the weather was better on the hills...rainy Central belt  :D

Back home before 15:00, always nice to have plenty of time after a mountain's trip

Just missed you, went past that way around 6.30 on my way to the Loch Lochy pair. You chose wisely, I didn't see a thing from the bealach up due to clag.

Nice pictures, well done.

Very nice - I've still to do these so good to see what I'll probably miss in views

I've often come home to a horrible rainy Glasgow after a wonderful day in the hills. Vice versa as well sadly...

Good report. You wouldn't want to be walking too close to those cornices!
