Parked in car park at start of road into Hillend ski centre. Walked path marked Boghall up to gate leading up to Caerketton Hill and headed straight up it. From here followed well worn path to Allermuir.

Bit wet below Allermuir, stay away from the path going along the fence unless you want to use the stepping stones and fence to get over the large puddles there.

Great views of Edinburgh and the Forth as well as the rest of the Pentlands.

Walked back down the hill and didn't go all the way to cinder track but contoured along under the crags to the top of the ski tow and from there back to the car park.
