From the east Middlefield Law is quite a prominent hill facing Cairn Table across the Ayr Valley. From the Strathaven to Muirkirk road, however, it is quite insignificant, and being just a 2.5km return walk from above Muirkirk provided the ideal hill to hobble up to keep my 10 year chain of months with a listed hill going. Starting and finishing at NS686296, this was my first time in a pair of boots in four weeks and it quickly became clear that my ankle was simply not up to it. I nevertheless made it to the summit (for the second time) and didn't even get a view - which on a good day like on my previous visit is excellent - because of this mist before making my way back down in considerable pain. Ouch!
