Following reports of snow on the beaches on Coll we were prepared for the worst but were luckier than we had dared hope. Typically changeable island weather but we managed to get a 2 hour slot when it didn't rain and the sun came out beautifully as we scrambled up A' Chroic.

This is a beautiful and easy walk with views to die for, beautiful beaches, and seals, oyster catchers, curlews, hares and, of course, sheep to keep you company. The only blot on the landscape is a new wind turbine standing silently above the beach at Traigh Gharbh. Building it has caused quite a bit of damage to the machair and apparently it doesn't work.
Thankfully once you are past it the best views are northwards where we could just make out Rhum and Eigg though I know from experience that on clearer days you feel you can touch them.

We cut out the road walk back to the start by arranging to be picked up at the graveyard.
