I decided to climb this hill from the Ben Lomond path over Elrig but this was not exactly a good idea since the path from Rowardennan was closed for repairs on its lower parts (although there was no sign to this effect at the payment meters!) so there was quite a lengthy diversion in place. Anyway, back on the usual track, I left it where another path is shown on the OS map at a new wooden post - the 'path' though doesn't seem to exist on the ground.

I have to say that the two and a half km plod across the Moin Each and Elrig to Beinn Uird isn't exactly pleasant - it's rough terrain and there are plenty of peat hags and boggy sections to contend with - but there are great views of Ben Lomond from an unusual angle to enjoy.

On the final rise to the summit I came across a helpful ATV track which made the final section much easier on flattened heather and grass. The views from the small cairn made the slog worthwhile and I sat for a while to enjoy my lunch.

The descent was very easy indeed because I found the ATV track again and followed it right down the hillside due west until it reached the road above the forest marked on the os map. I followed this to its end and then had a short stroll back to the Ben Lomond path. From the summit to here took about half an hour - much faster and easier than my route of ascent. From here it was a very pleasant walk back to the car, even with the additional distance of the diversion.
