Decided to take advantage of a dry forecast to test out by new sleeping bag, bivvi bag & gas cooker (plus try some of the wet food boil in the bags that caught my eye).

Just a straight pull up Oxen Craig from the Back O' Bennachie car park arriving at the top around 21:00. Got the water on the boil and took some photos before dining al fresco and watching the sunset.

Cloud cover prevented any star gazing & I managed a few hours sleep. It's been many a year since I did any camping & this was my first time sans tent, but practise - and longer walks - should help me adjust to things!

Broke camp after breakfast around 06:00, off the hill a wee bit before 07:00 and home again by 08:00.

The photos tell the story better than I could...

What cracking photos you got in the morning! Have been up Bennachie a number of time, but never got quite so dramatic a view. Nice one.
