Cairnie Hill (more difficult than it should have been)

Cairnie Hill - A challenge in itself!

I have to say I'm feeling the effects of hillwalking 2 days in a row - I guess that'll get much easier as I walk more! Anyway, I walked up Cairnie Hill today with my grandad! Absolute stunner of a day, I even got a little sunburnt!! :o Beautiful views of the Lomonds from the summit.

So we started in Collessie, parking beside the beautiful village hall, and we walked along the road towards Halhill Farm. The path curves around the farm and up the back through a field. That's where it all went wrong  .
The path disappeared, leaving us stranded in the middle of a field, causing my grandad to use his skills with a compass and soon after, we were back on our way. Although our happiness only lasted 5 minutes, as we soon hit another glitch. A stone dyke covered on both sides by barbed wire and an electric fence. Oh dear!! So after agonising over what to do for around 10 minutes, we finally managed to get over the fence (just!) and we continued to follow the fence line slowly uphill.

I mistakenly thought Baw Hill was the summit of Cairnie Hill, so I got excited for nothing. We carried on through some gorse and finally caught sight of a clearly marked out path and that led us up to the summit :) I know all of you will know what I mean when I say the satisfaction of reaching the summit of something is second to none. I also know that Cairnie Hill isn't really very high, but I was happy nonetheless!

All in all, a very enjoyable hill when you find where you're going!! :D
Below are some photos I took today.
