Wow, this hill really lived up to its promise! After driving down the coast road from Lochinver, and choosing an easy day over tackling one of Assynt's giants, we found ourselves at a lay-by on the loop road between Altandhu and Polbain, above Loch a'Mheallain.

The route to the top was straightforward—E up through heather and grass, slanting SE round the nose of a spur, then NE to join the faint path from Polbain, which led to the top. This way, we avoided the track and the transmitter station to the N.

We took our time, with so much to admire in every direction, although the Harris hills were surprisingly difficult to pick out in the distance.

This hill is definitely one for a nice day, and one to spend as much time on as possible. The caterpillars on the trig point, and all over the top seemed to agree…

We had a long journey ahead of us, so reluctantly left our perch and headed back to the car, with plans to come back to Assynt again…
