A short slow sunny slog up Meall Mor

A sunny school holiday Monday, so another opportunity for a walk and a blue pin! I bribed the boys by taking them first to the bridge above Reekie Linn for a swim in the river to cool off; there were lots of people there and a couple of dogs having a good bath too

Then we had the usual debate in the car on the way to the starting point, and again short and steep won out over longer and more gentle. So we parked at the wester track end, and took the direttissimo route S up the Angus/Perthshire boundary wall, a heads-down steep plod up through heather-covered boulders. At the boundary wall junction on the summit ridge we turned W, and it was an easier wander up a few more minutes to the summit cairn. The views were hazy and the flies were out, so we didn't stick around too long.

We cut the corner on the descent, initially following a faint track we hadn't seen on the way up. And then, rather than following the wall back down to the car, we slanted NW along the edge of the forest, where a faint path took us back to the track, down to the car.
