After having our last 2 walking days in complete rain and fog, we were really hoping for some sun. I mean, only a few hours of sun

I decided on Meall Fuar-mhonaidh, a lovely Graham near to Drumnadrochit which has great views above Loch Ness. I had a read of other reports as I didn't want it being too long for the pup, but between 2-3 hours appeared to be the normal time taken. I wanted to get up and down in 2 hours 30. Just a random target.

We drove down from Inverness and proceeded through Drumnadrochit and turned off at Lewiston. The road climbed quite a bit and we eventually drove along a single track country road for a good few miles until we can to the large parking space, which is signed as parking for the hill walk.

A minutes walk along the road and we came to the start of the walk, which again was clearly sign posted along with a gate. From here we saw our target which stood prominently in the distance:

The defined track then goes uphill through the forest. Here is can be a little steep but no match for the dog who was pulling me up

Once out of the forest, the track continues uphill for a good bit, climbing a small path through the heather. The path does have a number of loose rocks/stones so it can be dangerous if not careful:

After about 25 minutes since setting off from the car park, we reached the stile over the deer fence. Luckily the pup managed to get under the small gap in the fence so I didn't have to carry him over:

The climb then got a good bit flatter and it was a welcomed break. Here we could see how far the summit was and a faint path to the summit:

For some strange reason, the pup wanted to cool down in the mud

So close to the summit. The last climb did take a bit of grit and determination:

And we made it!!!!!! One happy dog and his owner. Excuse the facial expression, it was very windy.

Some views overlooking Loch Ness:

I then had a little walk around the summit as I knew from the map there was another Loch somewhere. I'm very glad I did as I found Loch nam Breac Dearga which looks amazing:

Last photo - A view overlooking the path back towards the car park and up Loch Ness towards Inverness. I normally don't appreciate the views we have in the Highlands but this was simply amazing.

I will certainly be back to this area to do the other summits nearby: I have to say that I've never seen such a great path all the way to the summit with some great signage.

Graham number 2 done. Hopefully a few more this summer.
