We were based at Tomintoul and we had hoped to add two further Corbetts to the list today. With the forecast of some heavy showers we set off from the small parking area down the unlisted road off the Tomintoul Dufftown road at grid ref 267330, just at the edge of OS map 37. Now the WH report states from Ellivreid farm marked on OS map but not on the B9009 road nor on site so take note. Parking area beside some bins at the T junction of roads. From there opposite the first farm heading West is a grass track heading across a field in a SE direction. Word od warning it's very easy to miss this turn off so slow down you will have a better chance in finding it as the minor road is well grown over on both sides.

OK, now for the confession.

Last Thursday I did Carn Mor and Carn Ealasaid but the intention was to do three hills and start with this one. I drove up to the road end searching for the farm on the WH report and couldn't find it anywhere. On the way back I stopped at the bins got the road map out and the Garmin but still wasn't sure where the starting point was so gave up and headed down to Carn Mor.

Turns out I was parked in the correct parking area trying to figure out where to start - idiot!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now for my confession Gordie, we drove right passed the junction, I must admit I was expecting some sign for farm at the road junction and to go down to the actual farm and still not find any name sign seems strange to say the least

Oh damn it - I was due to do this one this morning but when the alarm went off at 5am I just turned it off and went back to sleep.

Not sure, but I think you may have under-estimated the amount of ascent

Not a navigational expert but found the farm okay and spoke to the occupants about parking there. They were very friendly and the grandsons went for a quick chat to the cows in the barn who were friendly too! :D
