This report isn't gonna be winning any monthly awards

Image
The first part of the walk is long the road from the hotel.

Image
Up through the undergrowth. It was wet and the flies were awful, just swarming around me

Image
The early views up to the hills I'd be walking. Hoping the weather will hold.

Image
I spent a bit of time at this pool.

Image
My chosen route. Pathless.

Image
The views back. Light rain started to come on.

Image
A decent view of An Stuc and Ben Lawers.

Image
Some exposed sheep. Getting ready for the next shower.

Image
A first look Lochan nan Cat and where I'd be exiting the hills.

Image
The clag has come in. I also found a path to follow up the hill.

Image

Image

Image
A few snaps through the clag.

Image

Image

Image
A few snaps of Meall Greigh's summit cairn.

Image
A better look at the Corrie nan Cat. I got a good look at nearly the entire circuit here.

Image
A wee glimpse of the Carn Mairg circuit. The gent in the orange jacket was run/walking and he made off pretty fast.

Image
Looking back to the now clag free top of Meall Greigh  Will this be the theme of the day?

Image
Ben Lawers almost naked.

Image
A better look at the hills above Invervar and Bridge of Balgie. Can you spot the running man?

Image
The Lawers Range cloud free! I knew this wouldn't last :?

Image
The climb up Meall Garbh is pretty steep nothing that hard.

Image
Boggy at times

Image
Looking back over the distance covered I'd covered so far. It's a longer than it looks between these 2 hills Greigh and Garbh I mean.

Image

Image

Image

Image
Oh look, the summit is clag free...I took plenty of pictures to prove it!

Image

Image
BLOODY TYPICAL

The rain and wind came on really heavy now and the walk down from Meall Garbh was painful. I found relief behind a huge boulder for a while hoping the wind would ease off. No views of An Stuc this whole time.

Image
An Stuc where are you?

https://youtu.be/oiIuNRP_kDw
I took a wee video of An Stuc when it showed it's face.

Image
I had been looking forward to climbing An Stuc up through the scramble but the weather was giving me second thoughts. I waited a few minutes, packed my poles away, adjusted the jacket and off I went.

Image
The first part of the climb is pretty easy. I was already scoping out the way home.

Image
Looking back to Meall Garbh.

The climb gets vertical and then the fun begins. Picking my way up the rocks was fun, slippery but the wind wasn't a problem as this side of the hill seemed pretty sheltered. Visibility wasn't the best.

Image
Before I knew it I had reached the top. It's over? I think I must have taken a wrong turn or something because I found the scramble pretty easy.

Image
Views to Meall a' Choire Leith. A hill I walked last year.

Image
And there it is, the summit of my 50th Munro....

Image

Image
A typical views form the day

Image
Ben Lawers.

Image
The walk out.

Image

Image
A natural couch.

Image

Image

Image
Mini Shelter Rock?

Image

Image
Lochan nan Cat has a certain bleak charm I suppose.

Image

Image

Image
Meall Greigh.

Image
An Stuc looking a bit calmer.

Image
The dam.

Image
This cairn marks where to turn off the road and head down the burn.

Image
That's a better look at my route up Meall Greigh.

Image
Some lazy trees lying down on the job.

Image
Cheeky. I thought this was a bird feeder

The End.

Congrats on the first 50 teaandpies

Did these 3 in a heat wave a couple of years ago and was knackered before I was half way up the 1st hill. With no wind the first bit in the trees was the same as you - flies everywhere.

Although it was really hard work on the day, at least it was dry for the climb up An Stuc - wouldn't have fancied it in the wet.

Cheers Gordie

The walk up the first hill was the hardest part of the day, it's long and featureless. The wet pathless ground was sapping my will more than my energy.

An Stuc was a ton of fun, I did check and double check a few of the hand/foot holds. The whole thing seemed to pass very fast, a bit of an anti-climax to be honest.

The walk out was a slog, not hard just not fun.
