I was staying at Mar lodge with friends and we awoke to wind and rain but we still wanted to get out so Geallaig Hill seemed a good choice for a morning walk. We parked at the first cairn at the high point on the B976 and walked up the road a bit until we came to the wide track up the hill that led to the summit. It's not the most exciting of hills but there is a great feeling of space and there are great views down into the Dee valley.

We sauntered over to the trig and were pleased to see it surrounded by a huge shelter cairn, where we hunkered down out of the wind to enjoy a very pleasant hot drink and lunch.

It felt more like October than July. After a while, we decided to head off back down and drive to Keiloch to climb Meall Alvie, which was a different type of experience altogether.
