We followed the WH route pretty exactly. Glen Ey is a bonny glen, home to lots of ground nesting birds and usually lots of sheep. Kathleen and Moira passed us as we were booting up - they were heading for Devil's Point. The weather was good to start off with but rain was forecast for the late afternoon. At the entrance to the glen there are notices asking dog owners to have dogs on leads from the 1st April to 30th June, well this was a week past the end date so initially we let the dogs off the leads, but were prepared to have them back when we got to the sheep. What was this - no sheep? :o Yes, that's right, no sheep! Eventually we put the dogs back on the leads because they seemed to disturb a lot of birds.

Straight forward long walk in, then up onto Carn Bhac - lovely views to Cairngorms - we waved hopefully to K & M on Devil's Point. Had some lunch then headed for Beinn Iutharn Mhor across and extremely boggy bealach - up and down massive peat hags. Not fun. Across the obstacle course and up onto the summit ridge of Beinn Iutharn Mhor just as the cloud came down and the rain came on, several hours early. Met a man and his son who has come up from the south - good idea , no hags.

Didn't linger at the top, followed the WH route off the hill and back to the very good path down Glen Ey and solved the mystery of the the sheep - they were away being shorn and now they were back. Dogs back on leads
