Ben Lawers 7 from the North
Posted: Mon Oct 17, 2016 12:03 amJust a quick one: I was looking for someone having done these 7 hills in one day from Invervar and couldn't find a report along those lines.
So, here goes:-
The initial ascent from Invervar is steep; begins on a quad bike path which fades and is then heathery but not difficulty going. It then eases in gradient and meets a worn path along the line of the crest. Having taken in Meall Greigh, the path to Meall Garbh is well established and easy.
The decent and reascent to An Stuc is simple - although there are points where hands are needed, it isn't technically difficult in any way.
Looking down at the most difficult part of the scramble
The path from Ben Lawers to Beinn Ghlas is basically wheelchair accessible, from there to the bealach is also well trodden but less distinct. The ascent to Meall Corranaich is steep but, again, well founded with a good path.
The path to Meall a'Choire Leith is easy going.
From there, head north till the fence. Follow the fence to the right down to the glen, which links up with the drystone wall. The wall meets the burn, a track on the eastern side leads to an old farmhouse and a track leads east to link with the track just south of Invervar.
TL:DR Although this is a long day, it must be stressed: the going is excellent all the way. From the moment you reach the ridge near Meall Griegh until you leave the summit of Meall a'Choire Leith you are on well founded path the whole way. The last few miles back to the carpark are flat and easy going.
Although it looks like a big effort, the terrain makes this a much simpler undertaking than the distance and ascent would suggest.
