Our last chance to climb Blaven was on April 30th. The next day we would have to leave from Armandale via Mallaig and Fort William to catch our flight in Glasgow to Amsterdam. The weather forecast wasn't very promising but because nothing is certain in the Highlands we decided to take a chance. We took the 7.20 bus to Torrin and from thereon took the path that would lead to Blaven. At first the weather didn't seem to let us down. When we reached the waterfall it deteriorated rapidly. It was not on our mind to give up but when we crossed the Allt na Dunaiche it seemed wiser to return and walk back to Torrin.

You were unlucky to get such wintery conditions at the end of April.

I suspect a few folk suffered from the somewhat unseasonal weather. I cancelled a 2 day Mullardoch with my son, planned for this weekend. My sympathies!

Thanks! We were disappointed with the weather. Our original plan was to take the tourist path to the trig point, from thereon to the south summit and downwards by the south ridge to walk or hitchhike back to Broadford. It's a pity that our plan didn't work out in April.
