Decided to celebrate turning 50 by climbing my first Munro. The weather was misty and autumnal but forecast to be dry until late afternoon. Set off at 9.30. Long steady climb that at times felt like one giant staircase. Very cold at summit but had a quick lunch. The mist cleared two thirds of the way up and it stayed clear until we were descending. Views were amazing. A temperature inversion caused the valleys to be mist filled but the Loch was visible and it felt as if we were above the clouds. Fantastic day. Can we bag all the other Munros before I turn 60? Not sure. We can but try.
