After sub zero temperatures I decided to wrap up warm for this walk. My mistake. Who knew that the sun shone in Scotland, in November?!?!?. I got a bit of a sweat on going up Spartleton, with the good lady perspiring a tad, in keeping with her breeding. I've spent my life being told, 'On a clear day you can see........' So it made a pleasant change, on reaching the top, to be able to see such a large part of the country laid out before us. My tips for this walk would be to follow the fence on the way up from the castle / ruin and on coming to the gate, follow the quad bike tracks to stone track to the summit. Also the route back was very boggey due to some very heavy rain a couple of days earlier. Good boots essential this time of year. A lovely walk finished off by driving to Gifford for a nice pint in front of a fire in a very friendly pub.
