A big thank you to my Dad and partner Margaret who were camping at Dale Bottom this weekend and invited Damson and me up to join the fun. A trip round Penrith market and Keswick on the Saturday followed by a few beers and way too much BBQ on Saturday night meant that Sundays little trek might need to be extended to burn off the extra calories. We headed first to Low Rigg for views across to Blencathra and then dropped down to St John's church before climbing south and heading down over ridge towards Thirlmere and High Rigg, zigzaging to capture pictures of campsite and cover all the high points. With no map and no prior experience of the area, I cannot provide details at present. The descent was steep and through bracken, in which I lost sight of Damson on quite a few occassions. A trek down the bridleway brought us back to the campsite in around 3 hrs. Very windy on tops but the views were spectacular for such a small(ish) climb. Pictures have few captions due to lack of knowledge of area. Please feel free to clue me in !!
