I was clattered at football at the start of the month so have been slowly building up to a wee hill whilst my aches and pains subside a bit. Always meant to get round the small local hills for sunrise or sunset but have failed miserably to make much progress with this. Never mind, one more visited this morning for the sunrise.
Started walking at 7.30am and, surprisingly, it was already light enough to walk without a torch. The BBC forecast had been a bit ambiguous about sunrise prospects, the macro map indicating clear skies but the break down of the day indicating dullness only. Thankfully, there was plenty evidence of clear sky on the way there and over that first hour in the semi dark.
A wee bit icy over the middle part but non-slip higher up. Timed my arrival at the top pretty well, just a ten minute wait for the actual sunrise so time to take some pics before and after. Fairly calm but quite cold and sunrise colours that got better and better though not particularly spectacular.
An easy stroll back down to the car but then hit a traffic jam of coos moving between fields but soon moved.

Nice sunrise - well worth a slightly earlier start. Good to hear you're on the mend - cheers :)

Beautiful pictures. Well done for the early start. You have inspired me. next year I really must make an effort to be on a summit at sunrise, it looks so worth the effort.

Thanks. Yes, I think sunrise and sunset both worth making the effort for every now and then.

This was pointed out to me as being useful for this sort of thing: http://photoephemeris.com
