An Teallach - Highlight of My Walking Year

I had seen this from the road on my home from my walk up Ben More Assynt / Conival a few months previously and it recommended to me by a friend as being a stunning walk so I started checking the weather report on a weekly basis until weeks later it finally looked like it was going to be as good as it was going to get for that time of year.

I parked by the road outside what I think was a closed down gift shop where there was plenty of space for parking along the road, a minute or so's walk to the start of the path.

First proper look of the ridge

I must admit, when I came to the first proper scramble I thought it looked a bit much for me so I decided to take the bypass route

There's a path there somewhere

It's an easy walk over to the 2nd Munro and once there, I made the second mistake of the day. I should have taken the walk over the ridge to Glas Mheall Liath as it would have been another interesting walk and more direct route back to my car, Instead I went down the back to Dundonnell which left me a additional few miles walk.

The classic view of An Teallach

Definitely somewhere I'm going to return to and do the full ridge walk!

Glad you got a good day for it as its too good to just bag, especially if you ascend and descend from Dundonnell.
But yes I'd have to say its without doubt the best days walk Ive had, even though I missed the first summit, so much in awe at the scenery

A really wonderful looking mountain, that I still have to do - as CGC, I hope to do it in 2017. I reckon even if it wasn't a brilliant lump in its own right, it would be worth climbing just for the view of Beinn Dearg Mor (your pic of it - titled "Bypass" - is one of the best I've seen).

And: boy, did you have amazing weather!!!
