This is a good straight forward walk. Good mix of woodland, hillside and open moor. Very quiet. Lovely open views. It took just 3 hours steady walking to get to Bruxy Hill and the old quarry where the jack russell and I stopped for our lunch and then just another hour along very pleasant grassy track back to the car.
The moor was pretty wet and boggy in places.
Farm yard was quiet to pass through - no loose dogs. Sheep out on the lower pastures on the way back.
Nice for this time of year because there was no snow lying. It's a really clear path but with a covering of snow it would soon disappear.
Warning
Please note that hillwalking when there is snow lying requires an ice-axe, crampons and the knowledge, experience and skill to use them correctly. Summer routes may not be viable or appropriate in winter. See winter information on our skills and safety pages for more information.
