Sgurr a'Chaorachain
27 August 2010
with Honey and Tess

The second of our holiday Corbetts was Sgurr a'Chaorachain done on a day trip to Applecross. We did it the easy way from the car park near the top of the Bealach na Ba starting at a height of over 600m. The walk up the track to the mast is not that inspiring, but things improve on the continuation round the rim of the coire, particularly as the A'Chioch comes into view. We took the bypass path to the left of the sandstone tower and onto the summit.

We returned the same way - it took only about 2 hours in total. We then headed down with my wife to the Applecross Inn for a fantastic plate of fish and chips for lunch.

We drove back by the coastal road round the north end of the peninsula, enjoying the views on the way.

We spotted something big, black and dangerous gliding through the waters of the Inner Sound.

That's exactly the route I'm going to take, being cowardly as I am! :D
