Walkhighlands

This was all our 1st time in the Cairngorms,left house at 5.30 and picked up alans,and JB likes a beer and walking across car park by 8am heading for Ben Macdui,with a fine view back to Loch Morlich and not so nice over to the ski centre.The good path takes you the open hillside,then large stones carry you across the Allt ciore an t Sneachdathis leads on across the moor,no views in this clag,only the path aheadfound the going very easy all the way on to the wide ridge of Maidan Creag an Leth-Choin,with a fleeting glimpse of the small Lochan Buidhereached the large summit with very little effort,this was so easy for this to be 2nd highest munro.Had a 20min break here for food and let alans and jb muck about with my dogs hoping the clouds would clear and get some views across the Larig Ghru,with no luck so started back down to meet up with the path that leads to Cairn Gorm,no sooner of the summit and the clouds clear and we get a good view over to Cairn Toul and Braeriach we think,now comes the long but very easy walk over to Cairngorm with the views opening up all the time where alans starts posing for the cameratry harder matenow your talkingmaybe one morenow some more without alansnow comes the short pull up to Cairngorm and last pictures of the dayhave another short break here then head for home.The day started out cloudy as forecast and then cleared also as forecast well done MWIS,can only say we all had a 1st great day in the "gorms"

You'll be back. So many great walks at high and low levels in this area . Although the plateau can be tough in bad weather, the ground is great for walking on - so dry and firm. Not been high in the 'gorms at all this year unfortunately .

Well done Gammy! I really liked 093 picture and I'm pleased it cleared for you.

Cant wait till we get back up in this area,don"t know why but never really fancied this area,how wrong can you be,if the paths are all like this it makes the long miles fairly easy.


The views did open up on the way to Cairn Gorm,and just made me even more keen to go back

Makes the achey legs worth while, especially when you get the views. And they're all different and beautiful.

Nice one gammy, this area is fast becoming my desired area for my planned walking week next May/June.

From what we saw yesterday you could not pick a better place for a weeks walking,

Great walks and great views (when/if you get them!). Just love the area

Think your sense of direction may be a wee bit off with your pic of Bynack More 'tho ...that's Beinn Mheadhoin!

I'm deffo going to have to get out to this neck of the woods, this area looks like a walker's heaven

I noticed that aswell and the funny thing is when we were on our way to cairn gorm he looked over and said thats Beinn Mheadhoin, dont know where he got bynack more from with the pics,must be an age thing

You got all sorts of weather on this one! .....I now become an pedantic old man .....Braeriach is just out of shot with your image which shows Cairn Toul and Sgor an Lochan Uaine or to some folks Angel's Peak...still another 15 or so Cairngorms to keep you busy.

gaffer you are also right,had another look at the map tonight,it was Cairn Toul on the left and Sgor an Lochain Uaine on the left with Braeriach just out of picture on the right of shot,sorry about all this,but after all I was a "gorms virgin"
