A bit of research of past walk reports on here suggested this hill would be a wet footer but Rodmeister put me right. Parked at 067975 in a lane entrance on the north side of the Cleish road, then east along the road for 50m to a field entrance on the other side of the Shank Burn. Climbed the gate and then followed the rough vehicle track until it reaches the forest and turns SW to head into the trees. I climbed another gate and followed the now good track (moss covered) up the hill. It doubles back on itself and after another 150m at the first wide firebreak with a stream in the middle, I left the track. After 100m the break closes and it was into the trees proper, but not too dense and I could see the edge of the forest 50m ahead. Not difficult at all.
Onto the open grassy tussocks of the hillside then across to the bealach of Windy Gate to follow the fence over to Dumglow. A quick snap of the late evening sun west towards Stirling. The light was beautiful here.
Then back to Windy Gate and up to the high point of the two bumps labelled 'Georgeton Hills' on the map for a couple of looks back to Dumglow
then back into the trees, made a slight error here and missed the wide firebreak so ended up crashing through the branches for another 200m until hitting the track and back to the car.
