Managed to run the first K until the path turned onto the hill at the cairn, but from this point the boggy and steep ground meant that more energy was being expended trying to run and fast walking was much quicker. The slog up through the boggy slopes was uneventful, but far more enjoyable as the summit cone was reached and there were a few rocks and crags to negotiate. The summit was in cloud as I climbed the last few metres, but briefly cleared giving me views all round. Run / walk up had taken 57 minutes. However, it was freezing. Put an extra layer on and sheltered whilst I ate a mars bar and had a drink. Hands were frozen and nearly put gloves on, but thought that would only hold me up to take them off again.
The run down was great, pretty tough on the thighs, but the soft ground was kind on my knees. Took me 30 minutes to get down. Very enjoyable.

OOft hill runners! You gotta give it to them, the fitness levels required to smash out decent times on hills is something else

Well in for this.

I remember being half way up the boggy "path" and my phone went. Someone hadn't turned in for work and could I get back and cover.
Err- no was the polite answer. See you tomorrow.

Good report. Cheers.
Ps I saw almost zip as well on this.
Nice shelter and trig point

Good stuff

It's a tricky balance knowing how much to wear some days.

I've found fast walking is the best energy saver.

And if any running; short steps.

But nothing beats a nice 'balls out' descent.great fun :)
