Quick dash up Donich

A bit frustrating that the best week of weather I can remember for several months coincided with seven consecutive days of work for my partner. On the plus side, some of them were half days, leaving a few afternoons free before I had to be back for evening musical commitments. After an excellent route up Dumyat the day before, today we headed for Ben Donich in the Arrochar Alps.

Only a couple of other cars in the car park - a benefit of weekday walking. More cloudless skies today, but we'd abandoned yesterday's shorts in favour of trousers today as there was still a keen easterly wind blowing. Beinn an Lochain from the car park:

We used the standard route up today - not much to add to the WH route description, except to reiterate the point about the deep cavities near path. In fact, one of them is actually on the path (see below)! Anyway - a few pics:

Views were excellent all the way up, but especially by the very short downwards scramble at 800 metres or so. Some huge boulders lying around...

After the rocky ascent, the summit area is surprisingly spacious. Contrary to the WH route description, the path is pretty clear all the way to the top.

Back down by the same route. Under 3 hours in all and a(nother) wonderful day of weather to do it on, so a pretty good ratio of time to scenery!
