Day 1 of a trip based at Tulloch Station Lodge.
We decided to break the journey north with a half-day walk up the Pap of Glencoe. I was delighted that the spell of dry sunny weather was holding out as we made our way along the A82. On my previous visits I had not had much of a view - indeed on the first one in 1983, it was cold, windy and snowing. Quite the reverse of conditions today.
Parked at the large area on the old Glencoe road, a bit to the north west of the hill and walked along the road to the starting point with its hand-painted sign. Made our way up along the path and great views unfolded right from the get-go.
- Looking north west towards Ardgour
- Looking into Fionn Ghleann
We toiled our way up the loose rocky path towards to col with Sgorr nam Fiannaidh where we stopped for lunch before climbing the path to the summit.
What a view was waiting for us there! All round from Ardgour to the Ben, the Mamores, Glencoe and the Ballachuillish hills - well worth the sweat on the way up!
- Looking east to Garbh Bheinn with Kinlochleven in the distance
- The view south west
- The Ballachuillish hills
- Ardgour
- The Mamores with the Ben behind
Made our way down by the same path before arriving at Glencoe village for the short drive up to Tulloch.
- A final look at Ardgour
A pleasant start to the trip!
