Cheers MrsSanta. Yes, the days were much longer than the years before. Thats why this years trip felt more like a dream of constant walking. There was just not enough time to relax in the evening but it was very enjoyable nonetheless.

Epic stuff there guys and great photos. That £50 surcharge on the way home, ouch, got caught with that too, same airline. Bit of a rip off especially when your're checking in baggage anyway. Same happened in Shetland but more civil, they don't sting you, they happily print out your pass no charge :D
Great report :D

It is really a rip off especially when you're used to the method other airlines have in place. Checking in at the airport that is. But that is how the make their money. Especially for older passengers this must be a nightmare. I always thought I had understood the rules .. until now. But it was an enjoyable short trip anyway so the £200 will not dull our joy.

Cheers Maya. Yeah, the Sächsische Schweiz is absolutely great (and so different from the breathtaking emptiness aof the Highlands) but on the other hand, there are so many restrictions to access and wild camping. But I guess thats necessary when there are 1,7 mio visitors each year in an area with the size of Manchester.
