It is really a rip off especially when you're used to the method other airlines have in place. Checking in at the airport that is. But that is how the make their money. Especially for older passengers this must be a nightmare. I always thought I had understood the rules .. until now. But it was an enjoyable short trip anyway so the £200 will not dull our joy.

I agree about the 'Sächsische Schweiz' its a cracking area well worth the visit. Did not realize that Ryan Air charged for not checking in

Yeah, the Sächsische Schweiz is absolutely great (and so different from the breathtaking emptiness aof the Highlands) but on the other hand, there are so many restrictions to access and wild camping. But I guess thats necessary when there are 1,7 mio visitors each year in an area with the size of Manchester.
