Weather for today looked better in the South West, so decided East Ayrshire to do Windy Standard and Alhang looked a good bet :( Wrong it chucked it down for most of the day, think it's called character building.
Left the car at the water works before Afton Reservoir, and have now discovered that most of the route from the Afton Dam up to Wedder Hill is now a construction site, as another wind-farm development is being built, so you don't have to worry about a route, as you just follow the gravel road up.Only issue you have is to look out for the construction traffic passing by, the guys on the site will advise you.
Once you get past the road it's a right turn and follow the fence line up,making sure you stay on the right hand side, avoiding the electric fence further up the hill.Once you return to the 507 metre point, you can go over a gate and follow the route up to Alhang and Alwhat, once again a handy fence-line keeps you in the right direction..Coming off of Alwhat ,you can pick up an ATV track leading down to the Afton Reservoir, from there another gravel track goes along beside the reservoir leading down to the parking area.
