A forecast of mid-afternoon rain had me setting off early for Glen Lyon. Parked at the Innerwick car park and was soon on my way, past the war memorial and onto the track leading over to Loch Rannoch.

I was heading to Beinn Dearg first, so followed the forestry track right to the edge of the trees and from there to open hillside. The track seems to meander over the heather for a while, so I decided to leave it and take a more direct line towards the dip between Meall Glas and the hill. The going was ok, but not great. However, once on the ridge, the walking was on short-cropped grass. It wasn't very long from there until I was on the summit, with great views all around.

I headed down the west ridge over Meall Glas to the high point in the pass by the shielings.

The is an ATV track from this point leading up onto the shoulder of Meall a'Mhuic which certainly makes the walking much easier.

From the shoulder it is an easy walk past the lochan to the summit.

From the summit, I walked south to pick up the zig zag track that led back down to Glen Lyon and the car.

A very satisfying circuit on a couple of quiet hills.
