A planned walk to bag a bonus Munro on the way north to Tongue and what could be handier than the most northerly. Having done almost 1000 miles the previous 4 days with Fiona navigating the NC500.
The car was performing far better than I ever imagined returning around about 600 miles on the 50l tank.
My co-pilots for the weekend were Martin & George, originally David (Reilly) was signed up to join us and as things turned out we were lucky he withdrew as we all had 3 bags which resulted in bags being on the back seat.
The plan was like previous WH Meets, pick Martin up from the station and George from the P&R - Martin missed the early train claiming he wasn't supposed to be catching that one
So I nipped down to the P&R and uplifted George who was on time
Next stop would be Dobbies in Inverness for the 'breakfast' where we had arranged to meet Sue.
After the large breakfast we set off on the trek north, we had arranged to meet James who was travelling up from Oxford - and unlike Martin he was waiting for us at the parking area. There were a few cars in the small car park and trillions of midges, so there was no hanging around.
Enjoyed the day, not far from the summit we met a chap descending, we would catch him up and he was well off piste. Martin went over to see if he was alright and he said he had a sore leg, I waited and gave him my poles. I wasn't convinced that he should be wandering the hills, he looked as if he was really overheating, as he had a base layer, big thick jumper and his jacket on. I was chatting to him and he was up in the north for week, having travelled up from Bristol. We eventually reached the cars where the midges were waiting patiently for us to return so once again it was boots off and get in the car quick.
Great day and although it was cold on the summit, we got views for most of the day.
