Day 1 of my annual summer holiday tour of some hills, and the general idea was to head for the general vicinity of Affric and Kintail, and possibly even get a sneaky wee visit to Skye in as well.
As I headed up the A9 and cut off at Dalwhinnie heading for the Road to the Isles, I still wasn't totally sure where I was heading and when. I had left a list of 4 or 5 routes with my wife and a vague indication of which day I was most likely to be doing each one, but flexibility would probably be necessary to combat the distinctive vagaries f the Scottish summer weather.
As I drove into Roy Bridge, an impulsive decision made me turn right off the main road and head up the minor road into Glen Roy itself. I had never been up Glen Roy at all and my plan was to do a quick smash and gab warm up raid on Beinn Mhonicaig, which I recalled from previous reports I had been seen is no more than a 1 hour up and down from the car park by the view indicator.
This wee Sub2K was just exactly that - a little warm up exercise with the added bonus of some fine views and a foray into a new unknown glen.
