We climbed this with an 8 year old who has a lot of hiking experience. It was a day when rain was pouring and the winds howling (barely blue to stand upright). The first 1.5 hours is on a gravel car road, with clearly marked signage for Meikle Bin. It is only the last 30 minutes that the path turns steeper and a bit boggy. A lot of adults could run or bike up this hill.
We had no views, but the walk is what makes being in weather really worthwhile. The Carron Valley is lovely - lot of wild flowers, mushrooms, and the lake below.

Warning Please note that hillwalking when there is snow lying requires an ice-axe, crampons and the knowledge, experience and skill to use them correctly. Summer routes may not be viable or appropriate in winter. See winter information on our skills and safety pages for more information.
