Hart Fell, not the usual way, but quick all the same.
Posted: Thu Sep 07, 2017 8:13 pmWith the more popular White Coomb done the previous day on the Friday it was left to Hart Fell to be completed on the Saturday for the last Corbett of the Borders to be climbed. Once again taking the A708 out of Moffat and parking up just after passing the white cottage named Blackshope beyond Capplegill Farm.
- Car parking area for approx three cars at the roadside. From here you return along the road until you see a timber gate on your right
- The gate you pass through keeping the small burn on your left until you leave the field by climbing over a timber gate
- Yes it's very steep and it's very deep undergrowth
- Looking back to the road after climbing up the hardest section of the day through dense ferns and bracken
- Passing a small lochan on the way up
- No visible path along this section, the ATV track path only becomes apparent furter along the summit ridge just before meeting the fence line
- Long tussocky grass in sections
- A view towards Saddle Craigs at the head of the glen
- A view down the fence line from the summit
- Its a long way back with a few down climbs and ascents
- Metal fence posts, gate support, timber fence and gate and a stone dyke, lots for you to follow all the way to the summit if the mist or cloud is down
- I wonder what made this ?
- There are a couple of electrified fences and they are switched on for some reason, but there are a couple of gates for you to climb over
