The thing I had feared most on the first day of my Highlands-tour happened sooner than I had wanted, facing my last walk on this holiday. The thought that I would be leaving the mountains the next morning and the prospect that I wouldn’t be able to return for months, made me feel a bit miserable. However, I found comfort in the weather that, even on the 7th day of this holiday, was wonderful. Leaving from Crianlacrich I took the West Highland Way and continued from Kirkton Farm towards the absolute desolation and silence of the summit. The path was straightforward and the notorious muddy parts were now dry. At the top the view was breathtaking and unforgettable. I decided to end this beautiful week with a nice swim. The only suitable location being St. Fillian’s Holy Pool by the West Highland Way near Tyndrum. The water was clear as crystal and refreshing. After my dive I followed the way back to the station at Tyndrum Lower and took the train back to Crianlarich. After the train had left I sat for more than an hour on the blue benches to relish the memory of this day. I could look back upon a wonderful week.
