So, a return to the Ben Lawers range to this time tackle the ridge that is Tarmachan. Using the guide from this site and the down loaded gpx we headed off in near perfect walking conditions.
As stated fantastic views all around and the ranges spread out in front of us to wet our appettite to do more.
All went well till we missed the detour around the grade 1 scramble just after Meall Garbh. Before we knew it we were descending down the rocky cliiff face, to come face to face with a chap who had all but frozen in place. I managed to find a way around him and guided the wife down past him as only for him to tag on behind us. A very interesting descent which at times had me thinking why hasnt someone erected a small cairn by the detour path for the less fearless and less experienced walkers.
Eventually we reached the bottom only to see our walking buddies waiting for us???
They had been lucky enough to stop at the top on seeing the wife and I descend thinking that there was no way they were going down and were contemplating retracing their steps before being shown the diversion by a group of walkers who were following us but some distance back.
So there you go, we did it. A fantastic walk with bit of a trudge back on the old quarry road. Our advice is find the diversion route around the scramble, wish we had but there you go.
Another Munro bagged.
