A wee trip up to Loch Quoich on the way home from Skye to climb Gairich. The sky was clear as a bell on leaving Skye and a fine view from the summit was hotly anticipated. This was not to be as cloud soon came in and covered the tops.

With big boots and gaiters, myself and Fergus left the car about 10:00 to tramp across the boggy ground to the wide ridge.

The slopes steepened remarkably near the top then levelled off to a fine plateau on which sat the summit cairn where the cloud teased us by nearly lifting, but no great views were to be had.

We returned the same way putting on and taking off waterproofs often.

Water bottles ran dry, so the iron-bru extra back at the car was greatly appreciated.
