Left with Jack Jones for company again today.
He doesn't say much and let's me choose the routes. Always listens and is mostly good company. :D

Left aviemore about 6 and had the joy of a foggy "Tourist route" drive to Braemar and the linn of dee car park!
That bloke on his Saturday morning outdoor programme on the radio didn't help when he said it would be 60mph winds on some of the summits today.
Left and headed to Derry Lodge ( jacket donned en route as it rained on and off all Day!).
Over the bridge and took the path up through the woods and up to Carn crom- nice cairn up there. I visited it on the way back.
From here it feels like a good ridge walk (Ok extremely wide ridge walk)
The wind was picking up by now and the 1st top is bypassed on the right and it was onto the boulders leading up to the summit.
The wind cleared the mist at times giving good views across to Macdui, lochan uaine and down to Glen Derry and up to Beinn Bhreac and co. at times
And the wind picked up some more as the 1st cairn is reached. Tried to find a spot at the cairn to get out of the wind but no joy. Made my way slowly and keeping low (very low) to the other cairn and back. Noticed a wee shelter which I got into for 10 minutes out the wind.
Beinn Mheadhoin was my other destination but not today. Couldn't even see it and the wind up top wasn't letting up.
Beinn Mheadhoin put on hold for another day. Time to get down out the wind.
Back the same way apart from a visit to the cairn I mentioned earlier.

From the bridge at Derry lodge up to Derry cairngorm and back to the bridge jack and me saw not one soul. I'm content with his company :D

A conversstion with 2 guys in linn of dee car park I met when I got back to the car goes like.

Them " where Ben Macdui mate "
Me " you're not going up there at this time are you, and it's windy"
Them "naw just going for a look and a walk for a couple of hours"
Me " up that path, over a bridge, down to another bridge, go left and walk till you find a boarded up old house. You won't see Macdui but you'll see some hills"
Them " good enough, cheers mate cya"

Take a map or plan a route next time lads !!!

Please

Tad windy today !!!
Cap doffed to Derry Cairngorm
Cheers
